We've got your test results back. Your blood work shows elevated white blood cells, and the CT scan confirms appendicitis.

It's a common condition. We recommend a laparoscopic appendectomy — it's minimally invasive. You'll likely go home tomorrow.

Of course, take your time to call. The surgery takes about 30 to 45 minutes. We'll give you general anesthesia, so you'll be asleep the whole time.

Most patients recover quickly. You should be able to fly in five days, but I'll give you a doctor's note just in case you need to reschedule. No heavy lifting for two weeks.

Good news — the X-ray shows no fracture. It's a bad sprain. I'm going to prescribe pain medication and an anti-inflammatory.

Take ibuprofen 400mg every six hours with food. Don't exceed four doses in 24 hours. I'm also giving you a stronger painkiller for nighttime — take one before bed if the pain keeps you up.

What blood pressure medication are you on? Some painkillers can interact with certain BP meds.

That should be fine with ibuprofen for short-term use. Here are your discharge papers. Follow up with a doctor in one week. Use ice for 20 minutes every few hours, and keep it elevated.
