OK. Do you have your passport, your current visa, and a completed I-539 form?

You can download it from the USCIS website, or we have blank copies at the front desk. You'll also need to submit proof of funds — a bank statement showing you can support yourself during the extended stay — and a letter explaining why you need more time.

Processing typically takes 3 to 6 months. As long as you filed before your visa expired, you're allowed to stay in the country while your application is pending. You won't be considered overstaying.

The filing fee is $370, plus an $85 biometric services fee. You can pay by check, money order, or credit card. Make sure to keep your receipt — you'll need it as proof that your extension is pending.
